
Inner reflection is a contemplative focus on feelings and thoughts, body and mind, dreams and imagination. What can we learn about our deepest longing? our deepest fear? our deepest calling? Connection with our inner knowing and intuition is a deep source of emotional well being. WWC programs include practices for entering into a reflective inner attitude and integrating what is learned into daily life.

A diagnosis of breast cancer is scary. In addition to symptoms from the illness there are also side effects from treatment that leave our body feeling at best un-well and at worst intolerable. In these moments we sometimes disconnect from our bodies. Finding a way to tend to our whole body, both the illness and the healthy parts, brings us back into connection with our body. Through quiet breathing techniques, body meditation, and gentle movement, we can find our way back to living in our body with a little more ease and comfort.

Creative practices connect our inner life with our outer life. What arose during a meditation or a movement practice? What do our dreams bring us? What spontaneously arrives as we hold a pencil and a sheet of paper? Drawing, painting, writing, clay, music, sewing, cooking, poetry, gardening - anything that brings us to imagination is a creative practice. The act of making something creates well-being.

Mindfulness practices help us withdraw from the outer world for a few minutes, and provide contact with inner awareness. Mindfulness settles us in the present moment, aware of our senses, thoughts and feelings. We focus on each moment without judgment.
Depth psychology attends to the parts of ourselves below our conscious awareness and is particularly oriented toward the potential for wholeness and transformation. Pathways to well-being arise through cultivating an awareness towards our inner life. WWC offers educational programs designed to provide guidance on connecting with the inner life and bringing what we discover into our waking life. Each of us can find our inner wisdom and path to wellness even as we live with a breast cancer diagnosis.
